There have been a bunch of great sewing books released over the past year and I've been perusing them online and in book stores trying to decide which ones to buy. When I saw In Stitches and counted three, four, five projects in it I wanted to make, I bought it.
One of the projects I counted was this cool kimono bath robe:
And when I spied this fantastic Japanese print at the fabric store, I knew what I would make with it...a short summery skirt. Duh! Then I remembered the kimono. Yes!
I'd love to have this made for our vacation in early May but I also promised Sean (husband) that I'd have his pajama pants done by then and April is flying by! And I wanted some more Built By Wendy tops by then too! I think I need a prioritized list of projects to complete by then. Buying a new bathing suit is number one though.

Hello. This post is likeable, and your blog is very interesting, congratulations :-). I will add in my blogroll =). If possible gives a last there on my blog, it is about the Monitor de LCD, I hope you enjoy. The address is http://monitor-de-lcd.blogspot.com. A hug.
Oooh, I think this fabric would be perfect for the kimono. It's so beautiful.
I just picked up that book at the library. I was fond of the pillow with ruffles. I love that fabric too. I have alittle bit of it (not enough for anything other than a quilt or some bit of patchwork though)
Beautiful fabric and thanks for reminging me I bought that fabulous book...!
Jeez, Jen. I've just finished reeling from the great skull fabric and now you drop this on us. Not fair. (Actually, I'm not buying any fabric right now and am extremely jealous, pay no attention to me.)
I have tried to pick the book up at the library, but it is always checked out. It is on my list of books to get. The fabric is going to look great as the kimono. I make a list and cross things off as I finish them. And add to the bottom. Good luck!!
Beautiful fabric, really like the turquoise background!
That fabric looks perfect. That book is never in stock when I go to the store to check it out.
That is such a great book and that fabric will be great as a kimono top!
Hi Jen,
Just back from vacation and getting caught up on posts. Love your latest fabrics. I can't wait to see the kimono and pajama pants. I think that the pajama pants will be fun!!
The Red Sox game just ended and I left the TV halfway through...one word disappointing. As far as who I would have lunch with...I think that in the end Jerry Remy. Reasoning, Jacoby is very good looking, but Jerry Remy is funny and, I believe a would be a good conversationalist.
Cute fabric! I just made the Kimono robe over the weekend and the pattern is a breeze. I used a light flannel floral fabric. It's a gift for my Mom for Mother's Day but I liked it so much I plan to make one for myself!
Jen,
I love that fabric choice!! I've made a bag with that and it's such a fun print!! The book is great too, I have yet to tackle the kimono project!

Wonderful fabric!
